Judgemenot was over the house last weekend and laughed at my current kennel setup. Which I must admit it is lacking. Basically I have two 10x10's for my Beagles. Which currently houses 4 dog all under a year of age. I will be back down two outside beagles hopefully in the next couple of weeks. In the next couple of months I should be getting GSD. So I'll have 10x10 for two beagles and a 10x10 for the GSD. Before then I would like to get the kennels in order and easy to use.
Here are some of the problems I face where my kennels are currently at.
Red Clay ground
Far away from the house, which is good and bad
No water or power at the kennels
No Septic, the poop is piling up.
Lots of shade, great for the summer not so helpful in the winter
It gets cold enough to freeze a couple months out of the year
If I get new beagles I need a way to shut them up, close them in their box.I have about an acre of land. Most of it is wooded or claimed for use. The spot the kennels are currently at is nicely shaded. It works out good for the summer. Now that winter is around and we are making up for the drought it isn't helpful. It doesn't like to dry up since there isn't any sun and it is cold. Currently I have a x-large igloo with a mat inside. When it gets cold I stick all the pups together. They don't seem to mind it at all. I am thinking about building the normal hunter's above ground kennel. It seems to keep the dogs in better shape. I am also planning to start leaving the beagles in the fenced in yard during the day, So the kennel will only before night time sleeping.
Here is a fairly nice kennel.

You think it will work?
