Alright these things are getting a bit out of control. Got tons of people running around hissing, squealing and tapping the neck of their dog and saying they know how to train dogs now. Im gonna break down a few things for folks and you can chime in and ask/comment on things you see on them.
The Dog whisperer...ok he really is a talented temporary fix. He is able to tell you what is going on with the dog but I have yet to see him offer a permanent fix to any problem on the show. He also tells trainers/behaviorist that he does not train dogs. He simply gives people a way to react to the dogs issues. There is a world of difference between the doctor who tells you you have severe nerve damage and the doctor who can fix it. Ceasar Millan is the one who tells you whats wrong. Only training a dog not to do things you don't want or to do the things you do, can you get the desired results.
Talking you dog for a walk does not stop him from chewing or getting into the trash. It tires him out and he is no longer bored. Now get yourself so busy you can't walk him for 3 days and lets see what happens. If you want the dog to be obedient then train him in obedience!!!!
If you take what you see on this show and run with it you will notice he always focus's on the problem. Thats what you will get out of it. Its kida like if I tell you for the rest of the day not to think of the color blue...what you thinking about?
