Hello everyone,
I am new to the forums. My name is Cheryl and I have two male siberian huskies. Motegi and Max are there names, Motegi is 1 year and 8months and Max is 1 year and 6 months. I got Motegi when he was 3 months old. The previous owner didn't know anything about Huskies when they got him and they couldn't handle his hyperness so that is how I got him and my other husky I got him before Thanksgiving of 06. He wasn't cared for very well but he has warmed up to us more.
I will be starting my internship next week for animal behavior. I am really excited about it. I will share as much knowledge as possible with everyone.

Always glad to have a new member in the animal behavior field! Be sure to post up some picture of your pups. You can attach them in your reply

Welcome. Very nice pups! Love the Husky! Just don't like the "wanderlust"! How do you like the ABC stuff? I was just asked to Mentor someone from there I don't even know. Does that happen often? Also, can they ask me to do that even though my formal education is from a different source? ABC are the ones who contacted me but I have been playing phone tag with them. Where are you doing your apprenticeship?

Thanks. I like ABC, and you can be a mentor even if you didn't get your education from them. They are a very good school with lots of materials. I am with Pet Peeves Animal Training. http://www.petpeeves.info/aboutus.htm . So far I have been working with a 2 year old Siberian Husky, 3 month old German Shepard and a 4 month old staffordshire Terrier.

Did you actually do an apprenticeship or just the course? Is this a place or nationwide? I am very disturbed with alot of of post ABC program people I have met. Very narrow minded and too able to spit alot of big words but not back it up with actual training ability. Now I do understand this is nothing more than a program to teach the behavior stuff, and the "mentors" are the ones who actually do the most of the Teaching when it comes to the training. I try and take something out of every class, seminar, I take. I try and take something away from everybody I work with as well.

You do the course work first than the apprenticeship. The school is located in California but they off the course work online, once you pass the course work than they set you up with a mentor. I have never met any other trainers before from ABC before. In my area there are only like 3 trainers that have went through that program.
